New to buying images? Make your budget go further with these top tips

Like with everything, there are clever ways to save money when you’re buying stock imagery. To help you get the most out of your budget we’ve worked with our sales team to put together these top tips.

1. Understand the difference between Rights Managed (RM) and Royalty Free (RF) licenses. And know which one is going to work best for you.

With RM licenses the price will depend on what you’re using the image for. You can calculate the price using the online calculator.

With an RM license you only pay for what you need, so it can often work out cheaper than RF. If you plan to buy an RM license make sure you know:

  • Where the image is being use e.g. UK or worldwide, a UK license will cost you less than a worldwide one. So only pay for what you need.
  • How long the image is being used for, the longer you are using it the more it will cost.

With RF licenses the price will depend on what file size you need.

RF can often be a great way to save money if you’re planning to use an image for a few projects or uses. To keep your spend down even more make sure you buy the right file size – read our blog to find out which file size works best for your project.

2. Make sure the image is right before you buy it by taking advantage of free preview images.

Some stock libraries offer free preview images so you can try before you buy – use the images in your layouts and mock ups so you know they work before you commit to making your purchase.

3. Check whether there are pricing packages available that suit your needs.

Sometimes if you buy a bundle it can work out cheaper than buying for individual uses. We offer some great price packages ready to click and go. These are based on the most popular licenses our customers buy, offer you great value and can be found on each image comp.

4. Check for promo codes.

A lot of stock libraries offer promo codes for money off. Take a look at promo code sites, or check the company’s social media pages – sometimes you can get up to 30% off.

5. Make a phone call.

Customer service and sales teams are the experts, they’ll help you make the best decisions on licenses, and price packages. There are other benefits too, if you’re buying more than one image they might be able to do a deal or if you need to relicense an image you’ve previously purchased you might be able to get it at a discounted rate.

Ìý6. Check the refund policy.

If you buy an image and then decide not to use it you might be able to get a refund. 64ÌåÓýoffer a 100% refund for up to 30 days after an image is purchased!
