Instagram feature with wildlife photographer Milan Zygmunt

This month we鈥檙e featuring the work of 64体育contributor , who enjoys travelling to exotic locations and capturing the beauty in wildlife.

Here鈥檚 what Milan said when we spoke to him.

CG: How long have you been a photographer and what made you want to get into photography?

MZ: I have been capturing photographs for over twenty years and started to take it seriously ten years ago. I鈥檓 a passionate traveller who takes pictures of landscapes and animals. To get the desired result when photographing animals, I had to buy more professional equipment.

CG: What’s your all-time favourite shot from your collection and why?

MZ: In my collection I have no favourite shot because behind every photograph I have taken is a story that is special to me. When finishing a photo tour, I鈥檓 excited to see the final results. I鈥檓 always looking forward to the next photo tour that I do.

CG: When you go out to shoot, what essential equipment do you take?

MZ: I mostly travel during the winter months (December to February) to hotter climates as I really don鈥檛 like the winter or the snow! The one camera I cannot travel without is my Canon 1DX Mark II. My lenses of choice are my 500mm and macro 100mm. The additional equipment I take are an extender 1.4x, voice recorder, speaker and insect repellent.

CG: Where is your favourite exotic location to shoot? How much preparation does it take?聽

MZ: I really love Costa Rica because there is an amazing biodiversity there. It鈥檚 easy to get many different species of animals in that small country. Many of my friends live there and the local people try to protect nature, so my heart truly belongs there.

It鈥檚 also a good base for travelling to South America and other countries in Central America. When I鈥檓 in Costa Rica, I provide photo expeditions for wildlife photographers, with other friends who are excellent guides as well.

CG: What advice would you give to a fellow photographer who is just starting out?

My advice to everyone is that they should find a main topic to focus, one they truly enjoy. Try to not get distracted by photographing too many topics at once. Each topic has hidden secrets and rules to get the best results. By practicing and gaining more experience in photography you will achieve the results you want.
